ADHD
Being neurodiverse in this neurotypical world comes with a lot of unique challenges. If you have or suspect you have Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), we will take a holistic approach to help you better understand how your brain works, enabling you to work WITH your brain instead of against it.
In therapy, you will develop concrete skills so that you can care for yourself as you are. You will develop systems and structure so you can finally make progress towards your goals. We start small to build confidence and tackle challenges like procrastination and motivation. We’ll build resilient habits through persistency, instead of chasing consistency and perfection. Cultivating mindfulness can address impulsivity and add more intentionality to your life.
Additionally, we will process the grief, sadness, anger, and all the other emotions that can come with a diagnosis, especially if you’re diagnosed later in life. Developing self-compassion is a crucial part of healing from years of blame, shame, and feelings of not-enough-ness. We’ll examine the intersectionality of neurodiversity, culture, and gender to rewrite old stories of who you are and what you deserve.
Together, we will unpack how ADHD impacts various areas of your life, from work to relationships to mental health. You’ll learn to treat yourself with kindness and give yourself the support you need to build the life you want to live.
Please note: I cannot prescribe medication as only medical professionals (psychiatrists, family doctors, etc.) can prescribe. If you are seeking medication or accommodations in school/work settings, I do recommend you to seek out a full psychological assessment, as many places do not accept an ADHD diagnosis from an LMFT.
