Reclaiming Creativity

Have you ever watched children at play? They sing, dance, and scribble without self-consciousness, letting their imaginations run wild. Do you remember feeling that free? Do you ever wish you could get that back?

I believe that all humans are innately creative. We just don’t always get the support, encouragement, or space to let that side of ourselves flourish in adulthood. Whether it’s because of the pressure to grow up or discouraging feedback, somewhere along the way a lot of us decide that we are not “artists” and then we don’t do things like that anymore. In therapy, we can help you reconnect with your creative spirit and the joy of self-expression.

In order to reclaim creativity, we’ll spend some time uncovering what gets in the way. Often this involves issues like perfectionism, shame, and the paralyzing fear of making “bad art”. We’ll take time to explore what kinds of creative outlets call to you at this stage in your life. We’ll nurture the seeds of courage so you can be more brave in play.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or already have interests you want to deepen, you’ll get the support you need to address creative blockers, strengthen your chosen practices and integrate creativity into your busy adult life.
